It’s been a long time since I opened an account with a new bookmaker, just for the bonus alone. My day of Bonus Hunting are long dead now. But I have to admit that in the past I was one of the bettors who loved to hunt for bonuses from bookies.
In the following article I will talk about my bonus hunting experience, about Bonus Hunting Strategy as it was in the past, as it is in 2025, about the strategies drawbacks, and why I recommend it only in the beginning.
What is Bonus Hunting Strategy ?
In sport betting , bookies are offering betting bonuses to encourage new players to sign up for their platform or to keep their existing customers.
Bonus Hunting – Still working ?
Of course, sportbooks don’t like those bettors that hunt only for the welcome bonuses, open an account , take the bonus and leave. To limit this hunting for bonuses, bookies have implemented “harder to take” bonuses , ask for more documents for new players, or develop softwares that discover pattern and habits of player that open new accounts only for the purpose of taking the bonus, and leave their platform. We will talk about all of those.
Because of this, Bonus Hunting Strategy was very popular 7-10 years ago , when we used to do it. But now , when a lot of more people are doing it, are bookmakers are more meticulous and more carefully with their given bonuses, the strategy it is not so popular. However, It can still be successfully applied in some situations.
Types of Bonuses
1. Sign-up Bonuses. Bookies give those promos for NEW registrations. If you even had an account with them, I don’t suggest to apply for a bonus, they will find you. The bonuses can be FREE bets , Riskless bets, or directly cash into your account (between 50-100% from your first deposit) . Or can be a combo of those.
2. Bonuses for existing members . Even you took the sign=up bonus, and decided to remain with a bookmaker, they usually give more bonuses in cash of free bets . Don’t miss that opportunity ! It’s a constant money flow from an account where you anyway place bets with your own money, so you miss the opportunity to not risk your own money ?
3. BOOST Bonuses, for accumulators. It helps bookies to keep bettors inside their platforms, and help bettors to win more if their acca is winning. The bonuses can depend of how many fixtures are selected on that accumulator, and also , they can can require minim odd on each selection.
4. Enhanced odds / boosts or no-margin betting lines. On main games, sometimes bookmakers offers those incentives , to attract bettors to bet on the big games, in the most powerful leagues. A bettor can take advantage of those in many ways.
FREE Bets – usually the bookmakers are giving certain amount of money under the form of a FREE BET. Certain conditions apply, like the minimum odd, or if it can be place on LIVE or pre-match fixtures. Sometimes bookies ask for rollover the winnings (if any) , 2-3 times, before able to withdraw the winning.
Riskless Bets – If the 1st bet of the bettor was lost – the bookmaker will refund the bet, will return the money into player’s account. Of-course, certain conditions may apply, like minimum odd, maximum sum that can be refunded.
Cash Money into the bettor’s account is our favourite. But, its also the hardest to get the juice from. Why ? Because bookmakers like I said, implemented stricter rules in their promotions for new registrations. But still it is our favourite when we use the bonus hunting strategy. And I will explain why.
Bonus Hunting Strategy mixed with other strategies !
In my opinion this is the only way to make Bonus Hunt Strategy still worthing . There are a few reasons why.
1. Let’s say you want to test a strategy – What better way to test this without your money ?
OK, so you’d read a lot of articles, a lot of advices, you analysed a lot of statistics in order to create your own strategy. After you tested on paper, you have so positive results, so you decide to test it on money. Of course, you need some betting accounts, so why you don’t take advantage of sign-up offers , where you deposit 100 euros, and you get 100 euros free bonus ? This way, you got yourself some extra money to test your ideas.
2. Betting on our strategies or tips.
Ok, you’ve read about our strategies, and you decide to start betting on a strategy , on Value Bets, or Betting on Draws strategy, or just placing bets after our tips. You need bookmakers accounts and you need a bankroll, right ?
And let’s say you already want to risk 500 euros to one of our strategy. Then, don’t tell me you don’t prefer to start with another FREE 500 euros, and be able to have a 1.000 bankroll, thus, increasing your bet size and your profits ?

Bonus Requirements – How important are they ?
Each bookmaker have their own rules when giving a cash bonus. You need to read them very carefully. I will tell you now what is the most profitable, and what bonuses to avoid.
Minimum odd requirements :
All bookies are asking for the bonus money to be stakes on minimum odds. Majority on odds 1.6 – 2 per selection. Avoid those who ask to wager the bonus on odds higher than 3. Take that bonus ONLY if you bet on strategy with high odds (like “betting on draws” strategy)
Minimum – Maximum deposit :
Some bookies as for a minimum deposit for a bonus, other ar placing a cap on bonus . They offer 100% bonus money for a deposit , but no more than 200 euros, for example. Usually, only bookies that are accepting crypto are going higher than 200 euros in bonuses.
The Roll-over of the bonus :
Every bookie will ask you to wager your money + bonus money several times , in order to be able to withdraw the money from the account. THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT !. Some bookies are bettor-friendly and ask to wager like 5-6 times. That will be easy. Majority ask for 10 times rollover of the bonus money. And some are making the bonus impossible to accomplish the requirements, asking 20-30 times rollover. Avoid those, no matter how many Euros they will give for free, its hard to get them.
In my country I have one shit bookmaker, Mozzart, that is giving one the biggest bonuses : 1.000 euros, but rollover is 50 times, so you need to place bets of 50.000 euros (in 1 week) . Not even me I wasn’t able to take that bonus, with all my strategies.
The Roll-over TIME of the bonus :
Every bookie will ask you to wager your money + bonus in a specific timeframe. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT ! Avoid those who are asking to bet all your money several times, in 3 days for example. If it is monday for example, you don’t have so many fixtures to bet on, in the next 3 days. Timeframe of 7 days is acceptable, if you don’t have to rollover bonuses in the same time for multiple bookmakers. I STRONGLY suggest to take bonuses from bookmakers that are giving a more decent time-frame for roll-over, like 15 days, or 1 month.
The LIMIT CAP of winnings :
Lately, I’ve noticed that more and more bookies are placing a limit of maximum winning that you can get with a bonus cash. For example, they give you 100 free euros, but you cannot withdraw more than 500 euros from that bonus. So, if you were lucky to win 754 euros with that 100 euro bonus, the maximum you can get into your bank, is 500 euro, you will lose those extra 254 euros. READ THEY BONUS RULES CAREFULY !
P.S. How can you not love those bookies ? They are placing tons of betting rules for a bonus, but they ALL are screaming and shouting that have the best and biggest bonus in the world ? But they are upset on bettors that exist who successfully manage to take a bonus from them ! Hypocrisy at the best definition !
On What Sports can I use the Bonuses ?
Basically , you need to read the bonus rules very carefully. Usually, you can bet on any sport, but bookmakers will announce if they don’t offer bonuses for tennis, for example.
Some bookies are offering just for PRE-MATCH bets, for example. Some of them, offers bonuses or odds boosts, only for LIVE betting. Majority of bookies to let you combine different bonuses, for example the cash money bonus cannot be bet on markets with enhanced odds.
Also, a lot of bookmakers are not letting bettors to bet on specific markets , like yellow cards, or faults, in football fixtures.
Most of the bookmakers will not consider into bonus rollover, bets on asian handicap markets, or “Draw No Bet” lines. Therefore, you need to read the bonus rules with attention.
Bonus Hunting – Existing Customers
This is another way to get some extra cash. Personally, my bankroll is formed right now from total money that I have in about 15 betting accounts. Of course I need that many when I compare odds and bet on best odds that I find and the biggest Value bets that I find. Beside Asians Bookmakers and Trading platform like Betfair Exchange, I have money with about 10 bookies from my country.
Maybe I don’t place not even 10 bets per week with some of them. But then , why I keep them ? Easy. Bookmakers love to give you bonuses when they see no activity , no bets from you. Some of them are giving you free bets, or monthly cash bonuses if you deposit more.
At least 3 of those bookies are giving me small cash amounts of cash EVERY WEEK . And I just added them up , seems that EVERY MONTH, I got from them, 800 euros per month only from those. Money that help each bankroll in the long run. Usually I use those extra cash to test new strategies, new theories. One example in Winner, a bookie that operates in several countries in Europe, they are giving me EACH week 60 euros for depositing same amount , and I am not a VIP there. I have this account like this for over 1 year now, so about 3.000 euros from them this year , just for placing my bets with them. And even without their bonuses, I would still use them, as they have decent odds in BTTS , for my BTTS value betting strategy, for example.
Betano, another bookmaker from Europe, used to give me FREE bets , some times 4-5 free bets per week, and last time when I did the math, I think in 1 year of my Betano activity , I got some 300 euros in cash money from them, and about 500 euros in free bets. Not bad, in 1 year, with only 1 bookie, right ?
So.. sometimes, can be more profitable to keep using a bookmaker , than just make an account, take 100 euro, and withdraw all your winnings. Because when they see that you keep placing bets with them, some of the bookies are giving more bonuses.

Pros and Cons of Bonus Hunting Strategy
Let’s start with the Pros:
1) Its is profitable if starting to use some new strategies, will help you with increasing your bankroll very fast. This helps you to increase your betting size, OR , going with more strategies in the same time.
2) The Free offers are helping in the eventuality of a strategy going on negative results. If you are having a bankroll that is formed from 500 euros your share, and 500 euros from Bookie’s money, and your strategy will loose 200 euros, your mentality will differ from if you’d lose 200 euros from your own money,
3) Your winning from bonuses and free bets can increase if you mix them with other strategies. More explained in the members area.
4) HUGE chances of repeated bonuses from same bookmakers if after you finish the rollover of the bonus, you remain their customer. See above explanations about of my experience.
Now, let’s see the Cons :
1) Many bonuses have strict wagering requirements from bookmakers.
2) Sometimes bookmakers require documents and KYC verification for newly created betting accounts, especially if they think the account was created only for the purpose of bonus hunting. They will red-flag those accounts, and I will explain better how to avoid those, in members area.
3) To create accounts and to manage them, its time consuming. I suggest keep a strong evidence of all your account in excel files, date of creation, what odds are they best in, how much money in bonus you’ve made , etc, things like that.
